Change Your Questions Change Your Life: 10 Powerful Tools for Life and Work by Marilee Adams

Description:

Marilee Adams shows how the kinds of questions we ask shape our thinking and can be the root cause of many personal and organizational problems. She uses a highly instructive and entertaining story to show how to quickly recognize any undermining questions that pop into your mind - or out of your mouth - and reframe them to achieve amazingly positive and practical results. The third edition includes a new introduction and epilogue and two powerful new tools that show how question thinking can dramatically improve coaching and leadership.

The Five Dysfunctions of a Team Leadership Fable by Patrick Lencioni

In keeping with the parable style, Patrick Lencioni begins by telling the fable of a woman who, as CEO of a struggling Silicon Valley firm, took control of a dysfunctional executive committee and helped its members succeed as a team. Story time over, Lencioni offers explicit instructions for overcoming the human behavioral tendencies that he says corrupt teams (absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability and inattention to results). Succinct yet sympathetic, this guide will be a boon for those struggling with the inherent difficulties of leading a group.

Your Leadership Legacy: Why Looking Toward the Future Will Make You a Better Leader Today by  R.M Galford, R.F. Maruca

Your legacy is something you’ll worry about later in your career, at the edge of retirement—right? Not according to Robert Galford and Regina Maruca. In Your Leadership Legacy, these authors argue that thinking about your legacy now makes you a better leader today. The authors provide a disciplined approach to framing one’s legacy, as well as planning and shaping it over time.

The Fred Factor: How Passion in Your Work and Life Can Turn the Ordinary into the Extraordinary by Mark Sanborn

Motivational speaker Mark Sanborn recounts the true story of Fred, the mail carrier who passionately loves his job and who genuinely cares about the people he serves. Because of that, he is constantly going the extra mile while handling the mail, and sometimes watching over the houses, of the people on his route, treating everyone he meets as a friend. Where others might see delivering mail as monotonous drudgery, Fred sees an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those he serves.

We've all encountered people like Fred in our lives. In The Fred Factor, Mark Sanborn illuminates the simple steps each of us can take to transform our own lives from the ordinary into the extraordinary. Through stories about Fred and others like him, Sanborn reveals four basic "how to" principles that will help us bring fresh energy and creativity to our life and work: how to make a real difference everyday, how to become more successful by building strong relationships, how to create real value for others without spending a penny, and how to constantly reinvent yourself.

Dr. Kelly Donovan

Dr. Kelly Donovan is a dental hygiene educator, speaker, writer, mentor, and consultant. She is passionate about oral health and supporting the academic and professional development of dental hygiene students and faculty. Kelly began her journey in education as a graduate of Cypress College Dental Hygiene Program in 1994. Inspired by her love of teaching and oral health, she became a dental hygiene educator in 2007. Never forgetting the difficulties of being a dental hygiene school student and inspired to be a change agent within dental hygiene instruction, she developed a clinical remediation program to enhance student success in clinical instrumentation and board preparation. A life-long learner, Kelly has continued her education, earning a Master’s in Adult Education from the University of Phoenix in 2004 and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy from Pepperdine University in 2017. Her dissertation entitled Preparation and Instructional Competency Needs of the New Dental Hygiene Educator: A Phenomenological Study explored the lived experiences and perceptions of dental hygiene educators transitioning from clinical practice into the educational system to understand how to better support new dental hygiene educators in developing instructional competency. Kelly is active in her community, earning the California Dental Hygiene Kern County Outstanding Component Member Award (2013) to promote student involvement in the California Dental Hygiene Association. A Sustainer with The Association of Junior Leagues International, Kelly works to empower women and children, training women to be change agents and transform communities. Kelly enjoys cycling, tennis, and cooking. A native Californian, she enjoys spending time at the beach. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her teenage son, Braeden, and her Golden Retriever, Paris.
