AAP New Classification Mastery for the Faculty
6 CEUs
This course is specially designed for dental hygiene educators. The content will assist the educator in teaching and applying the 2018 AAP Classification System both in the classroom and clinic.
All four categories are discussed in detail and laid out in an easy-to-follow curriculum.
Critical thinking components are incorporated in the form of case studies so the advanced learner can apply the concepts taught for periodontal health, gingival diseases, periodontal disease, mucogingival deformities, and dental implants.
At the conclusion of this course, the dental hygiene educator will be able to:
Apply the 2018 AAP Classification System into a clinical curriculum and individual patient care plan.
Develop appropriate teaching methodologies and resources for dental hygiene students.
Build clinical templates and teaching tools for student learning.
Improve chairside patient care recommendations by correctly categorizing the patient’s periodontal condition.
Recognize the importance of practicing and teaching the concepts of periodontal medicine as laid out by the American Academy of Periodontology in the new 2018 Classification System.
